Tractor
JD 2305
well, not quite - the used 2305 i bought this summer came with the 62" mmm already loaded, and a snowblower that i have to figure out within a couple of months :(
but i'm about to buy my first, a box blade. i've read what i can find on the pros/cons of a BB vs a blade vs landscraper, and from what i can tell, the BB is the tool i need. was surprised to see the difference in price between orange(countryline) and green - especially after reading reviews on here about how the CL line is pretty well built.
anyways, will try to use the thing enough to get somewhat skilled at it. thnks for all the insight, glad i stopped in.

Congrats and welcome to the tractor world. You picked the best place on the net to learn everything about anything that has to do with tractors and attachments. If you haven't already, make sure you check out our site, EverythingAttachments.com to see all of the attachments we offer for your tractor. We also have many how-to videos that show you what happens when the attachments actually hit the dirt. If you have questions about anything, be sure to give our experienced salesmen a call and ask away!! Good luck.

Definatally check out EverytingAttachments videos. They are a really good place to start for a beginner to learn how to properly set-up and use implements.

be careful, buying attachments is a dangerous thing to start doing - once you buy one you'll find you need more and more and more...
i'm up to 7 attachments and I still want more.

Wow! Amen to that. I'm at five and can't quit looking.

Congratulations on getting a real work horse attachment - there's a lot you can do with a box blade.
Let me be the first to help you spend even more of your money (it's what we do here)!
A Top & Tilt (TNT) for your 3 point hitch will greatly improve your ability to use the box blade efficiently.
I often wished I'd ordered this option when I got my tractor - especially when I'm using my rear blade to do grading work.

thanks for the tips! i've read lots here and return often to learn as much as i can. i'd love to see/touch a TnT (think i'd need to have more hydros added to my 2305?) but maybe not? i have stopped by EA.com, think it's a great place; i'm outside of the 1000 miles so shipping would kick my behind. local TSC (tractor supply co) is getting to be a favorite stop since my little project started (building/landscaping on 3 acres near a lake, 45-minute commute).
after reading more here, decided to buy a 3pt boom arm, too...will need to lift the BB and soon-to-be-owned other attachments around the yard, eh? just about ordered a rear blade, too, but was able to avoid that for today... don't know if i'll resist the temptation for long, though.
decided to get the 5 ft BB because the 4 footer would be another month out, so hope i have enough oomph in the 23hp JD to move it (some posters here reportedly get satisfactory results).
i can feel your guys' pain! this tractor/attachment thing is a growing monster!!

Hate to even say it, but we have a BX2660 and a John Deere 2305 and after using the 5' box blade left over from our Ford NAA, we got a 4'. It can be done with a 5', but we are much happier with the 4'; just one person's opinion YMMV.

Dakotagun, make sure you give us a call and find out about shipping before you count us out. Don't be discouraged just because you're outside the free shipping zone; the freight is usually really reasonable because we get excellent freight rates all over the US.
