2006 Mahindra 4530
Hello all,

I have been surfing your site for some time and just now registered. I can't believe how much info can be found on here. Your posts have helped me decide on my new tractor and now I am going to ask for my first piece of advice.

I am picking up my new 4530 tomorrow. I have seen a lot of posts recently on the fuel problems (white smoke) and was wondering if there is anything I should do before leaving the dealership tomorrow, such as maybe run the tractor under load to see if I have this problem initially. Also, if there is any other advice anyone could tell me before I get it home or after, please inform me of it.

It looks like this site has a lot to offer, and I want to thank everyone up front for your efforts. I should be around for a while and hopefully won't be a burden to ya'll, but do look forward to being a part of this group.

Thanks,

cdover73

Can't help you on your question, but could you tell me how much you paid for a new 4530? I've been pricing them for a few days (with FEL) and I'd like to know if my dealer is anywhere in the ballpark. thanks.

Bought a new 4530 Friday 03/03/06 with 245 loader, total price with 6' box blade was $20,255 with tires filled and delivered about 40 miles included.

Thanks all,

I didn't get the FEL, but did get a cutter, disc, and box, all 6' heavy duty. The final price was $19,200. I could have added the FEL for $5000 more, but I have access to all the heavy equipment I need so I didn't see the reason for it. I do know the 4530 with a FEL was $19,800 without extra equipment. I have put about 20 hours on mine since Friday and I couldn't be happier. No problems so far knock on wood. I opted for the industrial tires and put them through the test around my pond cutting a fire lane with the disc to burn my field off and they worked great. I putted through in low range at about 1500 rpm, 2nd gear, with the disc down and the tractor never even grunted. I know I made the right decision.

You actually DO want the tractor to grunt! Breaking in a diesel (I'm sure you've read your manual) requires that you don't idle it a lot and that you put it under moderate load for the first 25 or so hours. It will keep the sleeves from glazing and seat the rings properly. 1500 rpm or so is OK but make sure that you hear that bad boy bark once in a while. I broke my 6000 in with a 7 foot IMC brush hog in 3-4 foot green pasture grass. I've got about 220 hours on it now and it doesn't use a drop of oil between changes. Not sure if your manual says so, but you should change your oil/filter at about 25 hours and then again at your 50 hour service. Oil/filters are cheap compared to a diesel engine. Enjoy and send pictures. BobG in VA

Oh trust me, I have put it under load quite a few times! I just finished clearing a two acre food plot that had a lot of underbrush and saplings. I used the box and cutter and it worked great. I only made reference to the putting at 1500 rpm's to state how the tractor pulled in wet conditions without grunting. Thanks for the insight on the 25 hr oil/filter change though. I was told and read to change it at 50, but I will do the 25 hr change.
I don't have any pics yet but will post them as soon as I do.
