Newbie here with some Q\'s on the JD 670

I'm looking at a 92 JD 670 with bellie mower attachment only...Meter reads 804 on the clock. What would be fair market value for this unit? I've already checked Machinerylink. Just asking what the public thinks the value is..lol The tractor is clean and looks to be garage kept. How dependable is this tractor? Transmission? And also, were all 670's fitted with 3 cylinder Yanmars?, the dude selling thought it might have a Mitsubishi power plant????

TIA

Re: Newbie here with some Q\'s on the JD 670

I had a 670 as my first tractor. They're a nice little tractor.

The 670 was sold with a 19 Gross HP (16.5 @ the rear PTO) Yanmar engine which was 3 cylinders. Mine, as most of those x70 and x90 series Deere's, are very reliable..pratically bulletproof. They're very simple, no frills tractors so there isn't really too much to break. The 670 is also very frugal when it comes to fuel consumption.

My 670 had a #60 loader. When I bought it, a Befco 60" rear finishing mower was part of the deal. This machine was a 4WD unit. This machine had just over 600 hours on it. Other then the paint was a little faded, it was in excellent condition.

I paid $8500 for the tractor and mower. This was in south central PA. I traded it off about two years later (with about 725 hours) for $7000 on a 2003 790. I kept the Befco mower. I do know the 670 was sold within a week (at the Dealer's) for $8000.

You don't mention if the 670 you're looking at has 4WD. Assuming it does, with a belly mower and no loader, I think $7000 would be a fair price. If it does not have 4WD, drop that price down to $6000. Those are dealer prices. If this is a private sale, drop about $500 off those prices.

Roy....
Found this site a few nights ago, think I reviewed 55-56 pages of posts looking for info on the 670, seen where you traded up...sweet. My situation is that I drive a 87 430 (650 hrs) for the yard (mowing machine!!!) and have a Int 284 (2wd) for the 3 point hitch work and really don't need another 60" deck but the 4wd has some qualities that if I had a used FEL to go with this tractor (picking up the big stuff for the outside woodfurnace) that sure would make life easier. Also 1 thing I would like to know is if the 670 has the hp to run a 60" tiller? (King Cutter) personal garden work. And from your previous posts from what I have gathered you do not believe it is strong enough to run a chipper with only 16.5 @ the pto, looked at a Woods unit last yr myself.

Anywho, its late and I'll be talking with the seller tomorrow and see if there is a deal or not...

Great forum with lots of good info...

Thanx for the reply...

Best
