Good evening, newbie here. I wasn't exactly sure where to post the introduction, but since I'm leaning towards LS I chose this one. A little about me. I purchased 42 acres about 3 months ago. Well, me and the bank purchased it. :) It has 27 irrigated which is on its 2nd year stand of alfalfa. The rest is dry land or weeds. I haven't decided what to do with the 15 a yet, but will probably put it into grass and some habitat. Been searching the net and talking to people and think a 7010c is what I would like to buy for my first tractor. Probably a little more than I need, but I hope to increase land eventually to about 100 acres. My experience in haying is pretty darn limited, but I'm not totally ignorant on the either. Of course you all can be the judge of that after I start asking questions. So, I got a quote on 2014 7010c, it is a package deal with 5 implments and 10,000 gross weight trailer. $47300. Any coments are welcome. Oh yeah, 5 implements include the following: 5' or 6' ruff cut mower, blade, bale spear, post hole digger, and fork lift.

The implements will make a difference in price. You might need to include more info about them. Brands and even models within a brand can vary drastically in cost and quality.

Does this price include a loader?

Also I think a 6' mower is on the small side for this size tractor.

It does include a loader. I'm reconsidering all the implements. This first year I'm going to have a retired farmer custom cut and bale it. I'll have to irrigate, put up the bales and sell them. I guess all I really need is the spear. I will look into the specific of each implement before I go that route. I know the trailer is about $3000 of that price.

Congrats on the new property and welcome. The tractor you are looking at is a very nice machine. Here are a few points I'd like to mention:

10000 GVWR trailer is not big enough. With the weight of the trailer (likely 2100-2500 lbs) you only have an additional 7500 pounds to play with, and once you load your tractor with an implement, you are probably overweight. I would suggest a 12000 for 14000 trailer, but then again, most trucks won't bumper pull over 10,000 so you might need to go with a gooseneck.

A five or six foot rotary cutter is probably under size for that tractor, I would not want to spend all day pulling a undersized implement around. That tractor will probably handle pretty much any cutter you put behind it, so I would start with 6 foot as a minimum and look for bigger personally.

Good luck!

Edit: I just checked their website and it looks like that tractor alone weighs about 6800 lbs, and the loader is an additional 2000. See you are talking about 9000 pounds of tractor on a trailer that only has room for 7500. And that's not including anything you might have hooked up to the rear of the tractor. You are going to need 14000 pounds, and I'm surprised that dealer would even suggest selling you a 10,000 pound trailer

I'm with you TSO, I am shocked the dealer would try to sell such a small trailer and small mower with that tractor. They will probably try to sell him a 5' or 6' blade also! ;). By the way, welcome Paul, ask your questions here there is a lot of very knowledgable people here to help with your decisions. This forum has helped me tremendously.

Welcome! I own a P7030 power shuttle and it's been a great tractor.

I agree with the others on here and that trailer is not only too small, but potentially dangerous. Additionally if you widen the wheels to their widest setting as I have it will be right at 90". With my snowplow and box blade on it's pushing 12,000 lbs. When it takes a trip to the dealer they send a roll-off style trailer and it looks big on there. The trailer and truck combo you would need should be quite substantial and how much are you going to be moving it anyway?

I would ditch the trailer and useless implements and put that money towards the P7030 or a P7040. For haying the 40f 20r speeds will always give you the gear you need. Combined with the 540/750/1000 PTO you won 'to have to settle for an aggravating ground speed. They also both have the power shuttle and electronic hi-lo. Once you have the hi-lo you will never own another tractor without it.

Loader work and moving bales with the power shuttle is a breeze and you will have the hp you need to do any task. And they are still all tier 3 machines.

Good luck in your search!
