Tractor
John Deere 2720
Great forum you have here. I have been lurking for a while making my mind up as to what compact tractor to purchase. I have a heavily wooded property and with a long gravel driveway and found myself needing something to help me with the regular maintence. Planning to brush hog/ spread gravel, clean ditches, keep up the driveway with a box grader, bury a culvert, etc...

Found a slightly used 2012 JD 2720 with a CX200 loader and box grader and thought I better get it now before the changes to more compliant air emmisions kick in.

I found a lot of usefull information here that helped me make up my mind as to what to look for in a compact tractor. Looking forward to learning a lot more about the tractor maintenance and everything else.

Welcome to the site. I, too. lurked for a long time before posting, but I certainly learned a lot that helped my eventual return to farming. That 2720 is a really nice little tractor. I'm sure you're going love it and have lots of fun with it.

Thanks guys! Talked to my buddy tonight and he is already telling me that I should have gone bigger!

I havn't even used it and I'm already hearing the " I need something bigger" in my head.
Just thought it would take a little longer than this! Gotta laugh about it!!

You can always play the "I should've gone bigger" game, and it is often true. On the other hand, you have to remember that bigger also means more up front cost and more fuel costs. I recently bought a 1026r to do smaller jobs around the house and in the garden where my bigger tractor just did not seem at home. I really thought I should have gone with the 2520, but the costs as mentioned above kept me in the smaller tractor. So far it has done everything I have wanted it to do, and I am really impressed with it. Just get out there and enjoy the new tractor.
