I'm with Soundguy, since most of what you have you can rotary mow. Chain saw the few you can't. Keep up a mowing regime for a year or even two and your grass should beat out the little tree devils. If it rains...

A heavy bushhog will be able to handle the trees. I am not sure about your tractor's capabilities. Even if you have to rent a larger tractor or contractor to cut then disc it up with a heavy disc. Once it's prepared, you can easily maintain it.

get a good quality box blade about 1' wider than your back tires - you can use this to knock down and smooth out the hog mounds as well as any rough spots you make while pulling/knocking down the trees.
it may not be much good for most of what you're wanting to do now, but will be very handy over the years maintaining driveway, breaking up soil or leveling areas, acting as a counter weight when doing loader work, etc...

Something to remember about mesquite; they have a root system from ****. I seem to recall that the root can reach 60' or more down to reach water. You're not going to pull that out, so maybe chemical kill and then just leave what's too deep to reach.
