Tractor
1983 YM 2310D
Just bought a refurbished YNM-2310D compact tractor and want to add a quick attach mechanism to easily switch out the bucket for pallet forks and maybe a grapple later on down the road. I've seen a lot of ads for "universal" quick attach systems, but most go on to say something about "works for Kubota" or something like that... no mention of Yanmar. It's an older tractor (1983), so I don't know what I need to watch out for. What should I check to ensure I get a good fit and it does what I want to? Can I get some advice?

I have just gone through the same thing with my tractor Ford/New Holland 1715. There are quite a few videos on the subject that helped me with mine. The "universal" fit systems require fabrication work to connect them to the loader arms and you will also need a universal plate that will be welded to the back of the bucket. There are manufacturer's that make systems that are tractor specific, but those can be expensive, but you would still need to remove the existing "ears" from the bucket and weld on a SSQA plate.

Well... hmm. That doesn't sound "universal" at all. I wouldn't consider a system that requires fabrication to be universal. That's discouraging. Sounds like this is going to be a much bigger (and more expensive) project than I thought.

the fab would only be for retrofit on your current bucket to make it SSQA. SSQA attachments (pallet forks/grapple/etc.) would just fit once you add the ssqa adapter to your loader arms. or buy a ssqa bucket that fits the adaptor and sell your current bucket to recoup some of the cost

I've just started investigating same. Looks like Tractor Mike has model specific conversions. Also looks like $2K

And take into consideration the capacity of your FEL on the 23HP Yanmar.
My Kubota B7610 is about the same size and has a FEL rated at about 700 lbs. According to the info on their web page the adapter at Tractor Mikes (w/ faceplate) weighs about 130 lbs. Thus I'd lose ~ 18.5% of my loader lift just for the adapter.
My M4700 (~50HP) has a FEL rated at about 2,200 lbs. The adapter & faceplate for it weighs about the same, in this case I lose only ~ 5% of my capacity.

On my B7610 I've been using light-duty clamp-on pallet forks which only weigh ~60 lbs.
