I feel kind of embarassed  but here goes; I know how to raise and lower the MMM and the 3 pt Hitch with attachments... BUT... How do I lock the 3 pt hitch out so that I can lower the MMM to cut grass? Currently I have a very heavy log splitter attached to the 3 pt hitch. This log splitter is a tiltable one with extension legs on it. When I go do drop the MMM to cut grass.. the the 3PH with the Log splitter legs drop down also and this of course would bend them with any forward or reverse motion..... and dragging the legs would also dig up the yard for sure. I read through my BX 24 manual over and over again but for the life of me I just can't find it in the manual. :confused2: Nobody around me to ask, was thinking of calling local dealer but I think you guys will come through for me.

You can lock the deck from dropping but I don't think you can lock the 3ph from dropping. You can raise it up and tighten the upper arm to where it, the implement, won't drop or chain it to stay up. When you drop the 3ph there is no down pressure exerted by the hydraulic system, it just drops by the weight of the implement so holding it up with upper arm or chain will not hurt it when you drop the deck.

John Thomas is right, there is a lock in mechanism for locking the mmm in the full up position but not the other way around. I've read here about someone chaining the arms up so they don't drop but I guess I'd really ask why you would want to mow with such a heavy implement on the back?

My B2710 is the same way: the MMM can be pinned up, but not the 3pt. On the B2710 at least, if you chained up the 3pt, then the MMM would not come down.

Either raise it up with the toplink, or remove it.

A regular question to which the simple answer is it can't be done easily. The MMM is raised by the 3PH and if the 3PH lift arms doesn't go up and down neither does the MMM. You can disconnect the lift arms from the rockshaft and pin them up, but it really isn't practical.

You can go around back and see the lift rod for the MMM on the 3PH.

wrong -- well, I mean right as in the easy way out. What i mean is that via controls in the seat, there is no 3pt lockout. you can lock the MMM in "locked" via top position on control. To answer your question, to lock 3 pt up, you need to get off the seat, go to the back and disconnect the lift arms and move it to the ears that looks like a place to chain down tractor on trailer, thus in the 3 pt "locked" position.

Yeah, but how the heck do you accomplish this with a heavy implement attached to the 3ph? Sure sounds easier to just remove the attachment.

You can not lock up the 3pt. and still be able to raise and lower the mmm. You can chain up the 3pt., however, you have to be careful because if you chain it up to high, the mmm will not lower to your desired cutting heighth. I have been going through this same situation with a 3pt. bagger.

I didnt say it was easy. garage floor jack is what I did in past. I lift 3pt high enough and get garage floor jack high enough to start lowering it till it lines up to lock in. Now I use my HF quick hitch and its fast to hook and unhook implements. Its the way of life with tractors.
