Guys,

I have been feverishly looking around for some of the models recommended in this thread as I am less than one month away from moving to VA. I have run across a 2008 4WD L5740HSTC with 235 hours, an LA854 loader and R-4 tires. The dealer is asking $30k and bought it back from the original owner.

Assuming that the unit is in "near new condition" as advertised, what would you think is a good price for this setup? Comparables at TractorHouse.com seem to be in the $30k-$35k range, with more hours.

A new unit MSRPs at $45,500...so I figure 15% off at $38,700.

If it was me I would look at a M series kubota. 50+hp so you could use larger mowers and disc's and if you decide to handle hay it would be useful. We have m5400 which will handle disc mower but we have to be careful on hills.
Round bales are fine on rear and all the front wants. Bigger is better on your property. A cab would be a big plus we are looking for a bigger M with cab to add to the barn soon.

I believe your in the right area with the L5740,I would go ahead and get a cab on any model you pick, some others would be a M5140 or M6040 with hyd.shuttle, they just dont have the bells and whistles as the grand L series....

My vote is for the Grand L series 5240/5740,hst,cab/ldr,4x4 if you have the $$$

Personally, if it is as advertised, I would jump on it before someone else does.
