Tractor
Looking to buy
What a Great Forum! Hi to everybody out there! This is my 1st post and I'm in the process of buying my first tractor. In addition to the tractor, I'll also be purchasing a rotary cutter to mow approximately 12 acres. I've done some basic research and have pretty much decided on getting an L3940. I visited my local dealer yesterday and here are the prices he gave me (no haggling):

Tractor - L3940 HST with Industrial (R4) tires and 2 rear remotes - $19,900
FEL - LA724 with Quick-Attach, 3rd function valve, and HD bucket - $5,150

Total price for tractor and front-end loader - $25,050

Here is the price he gave me for a rotary cutter:

Woods "BrushBull" 72-inch standard-duty rotary cutter (Model 72) - $1,695

Do these prices sound reasonable? Also, is buying a tractor and implements similar to buying a car... where the dealers 1st quote is a bit high because he knows the buyer will want to negotiate the price?

Thanks,
-- Danny

I can not help you on the prices you got. I am not familiar with the Kubota pricing. I would definately even though your set on a Kubota is to go out price compare and test the other comparable rigs. Any sales person will want to get the most he can, it is in their nature just as much as it is yours to get the lowest. Once you have tried out the others you may find you might like one of the others and it can give you some amunition when you go back to the Kubota dealer. Make the buying process just as much fun as owning.

Welcome Danny, I'm down south of
kankakee. I have a Kubota L3130 HST and very happy with it, wish it was bigger but that was what was in the budget and still go top of the line.

I'm still kinda curious if anyone else has received any pricing from dealers for an L3940. I've read that a lot of dealers will discount the tractor by 10% off list price. I'm not sure what the L3940 lists for... if anyone out there knows I would sure appreciate it.

Thanks,

I don't have any knowledge of pricing on your particular model, but in general the pricing structure is often like car buying. Get prices from other Kubota dealers, check out Carver's website (an advertiser here on TBN) and you will start to get a feel for what you should be able to buy the tractor for. Good luck.
