After 13+ years with a Cub Cadet 1863, (54" deck, 44" blower), I felt it was time to upgrade. I wanted a new compact tractor, but did not want to spend $20K. So I looked around for a while until I found my new ride - a 1999 455 AWS with 520 hours. 60" deck, 47" blower and a cab. Meticulously maintained by a former Chrysler mechanic. Always garaged. Blower tines still have paint on them. $7500. More than I wanted to spend, but good tractors go for a premium up here and there were - literally - 4 guys lined up behind me waiting to get there hands on it.
This is one sweet machine and it's going to work great for me. I'm mowing around 3 acres and I snowblow a 600' long driveway along with a big area near the house. And I'm in a "lake effect snow belt", where we got over 180" of snow last year. While I used to scoff at a cab, now I'm looking forward to not being out in the snow and wind (did I mention that where I am the snow usually comes down nearly horizontally)?
So I guess I'll be checking in here now. I'll be looking to expand my attachments to a PTO, 3 point hitch, tiller and bucket to start. But first I have to tell the wife!
