newbie with tons of questions ?

hi guy's ,i have a ym2200 that i bought in '95 as an'87[i now doubt this] .since then it has pulled a 6' woods finish mower pretty well, although it blew a little blue smoke, and leaked oil at the bellhousing.well, i noticed this spring that it seemed to be getting weaker,and by late july it lost power,and could no longer pull the mower.i pulled the head,pistons,and rear main seal.machine shop worked head, and said it was right.i installed a new rear main seal,and new rings.let me say now that the rings were at their max. tolerence. i had to get it back on the job--hence the "quickee".the power is better than ever now,but the smoking and leaking is still there.at tear down i also found the drive shaft,coupler, and trans.input shaft has SEVERE wear on the splines.i don't want to throw this tractor away.can anyone out there help me? i need a parts source for a complete engine overhaul and the drive componets.also need torque specs.and clearences.i would appreciate any info you may have on this tractor.here is all i have on it- ym2200 22ps 2600rpm-1145cc-2tr22-10401.do you know what all this means?thanks to all. jim

Are you sure the oil is motor oil? If you replaced the rear seal, it should not be leaking. I'm thinking the oil is from a leaky seal in the front of the transmission.
Wear on the coupling and clutch shaft is normal, replace those parts when in there.
The smoking could be that the new rings haven't seated yet. You probably should have replaced the jugs also

This particular model (ym2200) often sparks parts availablity issues. Many consider it to be less than desirable, NOT because it is a bad tractor, but difficult for parts support.
As I don't own this model, but tried tenaciously to find, - for a YM2200 owner - New Parts (2tr22 ?? engine overhaul kit) and failed. Tried industrial; marine; stationary equipment, etc..and cross referencing. Nothing remotely compatable.
IMHO: Perhaps someone, somewhere may have new engine parts for your model, but I was unable to make the connection.
At best, (and thankfully to well established reputable suppliers) found some random NOS parts, but not enough to help customer. I believe he eventually got a fair salvaged price on a trade in for popular YM model.
As this was months ago - Don't be too discouraged, there has been TBN magic performed, and hopefully a positive HIT will / may unvail itself. BTW, Welcome to TBN and good luck. Not all the parts are available for a complete engine overhaul. I have a YM2200 parts tractor , so I can supply you with clutch & transmission shafts & what ever engine parts are available.
The #s are tractor model, engine metric equivalent of hp, hp rating rpm's, displacement, engine model, serial #.
