Newbie with Yanmar 1300D

Hello,

My name is Aaron,and I live in VT. As of Friday evening at 6:01 pm
I became the proud owner of a Yanmar 1300D. This being my first Tractor I thought it wise to spend a few hours browsing the threads to avoid the dumb newbie questions. The 1300D needs some front end work. According to the previous owner the right front bevel gears are worn(teeth missing). Anyone have any BTDT info on this problem? I've allready gotten some quotes on replacement parts,and it looks like I can fix it for around $400.

Hello Aaron and welcome to TBN.

That sounds reasonable for the parts you need. I have owned two 1300D Yanmars....well I still own one. For it's size and weight it is easy to underestimate the potential power. I have used it to pull bigger tractors stuck in the mud that were two wheel drive.

Since you are aware of the front end problems with that model then I believe there is nothing else to be too worried about. Parts seem to be more available now then when I was searching for them.

I might mention that it is a thermosiphon model (no water pump) and that coolant should be diluted 75% with water unless your in a sub-freezing climate.
