They use tractors to dress/cut the playing field, so this is KINDA related /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

If you want to see how loyal I am, look at my bio. I simply have NO idea how I might need to change that if the ...ready...???

Cincinnati Bengals (waaaaahoooooooooooo) win this coming Sunday.

Who on this planet thought they had a remote chance of being in the playoff hunt the 3rd week in december...the next to last game of the season... Though I've always rooted for them to win, it was about 4, maybe 5 years into their "lost decade" that I realized they've gone through various players, various coaches... and the only thing constant through that coma, was their owner, Mike Brown. It was then I realized HE was a factor of the problem as much as anything else might be, as he was the ONLY constant.

Kudos to him for finally hiring a new, but seemingly good coach in Marvin Lewis and then putting himself into hiding. Unlike years past, I've not even seen as much as a picture of him at any game. (seen them all with DTV). Usually, they've shown him in the past sitting essentially alone in his box, but this year, he hired Marvin Lewis and is letting Marvin be the voice and face of the team.

I think Mr. Brown has FINALLY figured out that he is not His Father.

I've told the wife, I do not know how to act when they win... I feel like a dog that might have been abused as a puppy and every time my NEW owner lovingly raises his hand to pet me, I fear it's going to hit me like the old owner. Ie... I fear they are still going to find SOME way to "bungle" it. So far, my fears have been unfounded.

Unfortunately, they lost a couple of VERY winable games. Had they won, this week at St. Lous would not be an issue.

Any other Bengal fans here? You can admit it now... you can come out of the closet, it's okayyyyyyyyyyyyyy....we've gained some respect. In fact, seems the Bengals are sort of the darling story this year, after all, NO ONE dislikes the Bengals, how could they? The Bengals have not been a viable threat to anyone for as long as most of the current players can remember.

whew... just had to vent before this sunday, when I suspect midnight will strike and their charriot ride will turn back into a pumpkin. Win or lose Sunday, it's been a great ride this year. Seems the tide is finally turning.

Fingers crossed!

I don't believe a Cincinnati win alone on Sunday gives them a playoff birth.

You are right, any combo of them winning out, or them winning coupled with a Baltimore loss does it. As it is, they (Bengals) own ALL the tiebreakers, so ANY varient of a tie goes to them, and outright divisin win goes to them...however, as I understand it, it's all or nothing. They have no chance (as I understand it, or miniscule at best) chance of being a wildcard. So it's winout/tie or bust. Either way, been fantastic year (even if they fail to make it)

There have been several "game of the season" for them, most of them, they've won. This is just the next "game of the season" for them to try to win... though I must admit to my fears that St. Louis at home, might show them a thing or two.

Guess that's why they play them though /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yeah, I guess I would take them over the Vikings who started out great and have done nothing but look like [censored] since. A surging team is better than and dying team.

Richard,

I've always enjoyed rooting for the underdog.....AFTER rooting for the Packers of course! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I have been folowing the Bengals all season, and it's fun to watch them and the fans enjoying the season so much. I REALLY like Marvin Lewis!

But, I hate to mention this, but last night I was watching Inside The NFL on HBO, and your buddy Chris Collingsworth took St. Louis over the Bengals! /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif I know that had to real hard for him!

If it's any consolation to you, I'll be cheering on the Bengals this Sunday. Hey, I want to see someone do a new version of the Icky Shuffle!! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Nice to see some other rooters, even if in passing. I've told the wife that it's very difficult to describe the utter emptiness of 12 years of futility and ineptitude. Made all the worse by the fact that "name wise", they had a lot of high draft picks. My understanding is, at one time, they had more #1 draft picks on their team than anyone else (they probably had a "good" year that year and went 4-12 /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif)

Joking aside, it's been a wonderful feeling seeing them rise up and at least compete for the most part. Maybe the "Doormat of the NFL" will go somewhere else after being so well used in Cincy.

FO SHIZZLE!

After Green Bay, there is no football!

You know Steve, it occurs to me that we Packer fans have been there too. There was a pretty good stretch from the '70's all the way into the early '90's where G.B. was pretty much at the bottom. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

In fact, I believe there was a football movie (can't recall which one /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif) that used a threat of being traded to Green Bay as a way to get a player to improve his performance.

So maybe Cincy hasn't made it to the bottom yet! After all, they haven't been referred to in a movie, have they? /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Ok, I've been a Vikings fan since about 1961 (let the jokes begin). I used to really enjoy the atmopshere of going to Bloomingotn and watching them play in the mud and snow, WOW great football. Then they moved indoors and became the Vi-Queens, I still love them but there is something about watching a North Conference game in December with your coat in your lap that does not feel right. It's to far to drive to Green Bay or Chicago on a regular basis, plus I'd only get to see the Vikes' twice a year. Oh well, maybe someday the VIkes' will get their new stadium with the retractable roof and it will stick open.

lol no movies that I'm aware of, but I've read that there has been a player (or two???) that put into their contract as part of them signing that they will never be traded to Cincy... /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

now THAT is showing the love /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
