I have a nh 1920, and am getting ready to do my first service( was purchased from the dealer, and now have a few hours of use on it ) on it ( I've finally got enough hours on it to justify a 'service weekend project' to my wife ).

Questions.
1 The 1920 is 4wd. I'm guessing the plastic plug on the top left of the front axle is a fill point? What type of oil do i use? 85/140?
2 under the hood, is the power steering resevoir... is this also the hyd oil resivoir? ( Will adding oil here, top off both the hyd's and steering?) Oil type? torq56? universal transdraulic?
3 I know where the crankcase oil fill is.. but where is the transmission fill? Mine is the manual gear shift model.
Also.. what trans fluid do I use? ( or is this one of those units where the trans, hyd's and steering use a common oil resivoir? I don't see a dipstick for the trans... just the power steering?)

Thanks for info... I've owned tractors for a while ( yanmar ) but am still getting used to my nice 1920, and learning.

Not owning one of these tractors (or any at all right now /w3tcompact/icons/sad.gif), I'd say that most of your questions sound like they could be answered in your owners manuals. Do you have any manuals? If not, I'd be burning a direct line to the dealer to get them. While you're calling him about the manuals, you could also ask him these questions. Good luck.

I have a NH 1725 (they tell me that is the same thing as a tc29). It is gear transmisson. I recently changed the oil and filter it in. The powersteering has it's own seperate resivor.

I don't have 4wd so i can't help you there.

The 3pt hitch hydro oil is the same oil used to lube the transmission. I check/fill the oil from right behind the seat. The filter is under the fender on the right if you are looking from the rear. There are drain plugs in the bottom of the transmission to drain the oil. Be prepared if you do this. Mine took TEN yes 10 gallons of oil (I have no fel). I got the hydro oil from my local NH dealer. It was about $35 per 5 gallon bucket. Then filter was also thirty some dollars. Then you have to find a way to catch all this oil.

REMEMBER, this all pertains to my tractor. I hope this helps but, be sure you know what should be done to change the hydro oil in yours before you do it.

the 1920 uses hydraulic oil New Holland 134D in everything but the engine. differentials, axles, powersteering, transmission all take the 134d

Soundguy, I've got a 1920 and just got the manuals. If you've got any questions that weren't answered, shoot me a note and when I get a free moment, I'll look it up for you.

Mine is a 1997 NH 1920 4 x 4.

I've ordered the manuals, but am still waiting to get them.

So, the front axle, pow. steering, and hyd's all use the 134d oil?

I know the pow steering has a resevior under the hood, and I believe i see a fill plug on the front axle, but what about a fill location for the trans and hyd's?

Thanks for any help you can give, and to all who have answered.

should be a dipstick on the trans cover and a fill plug behing the seat depending what year the fill plug behind the seat is a black rubber plug or the dipstick on the trans is yellow and screws out and fills from that point.

I've found the black rubber plug behind the seat.. but have yet to find the dipstick for the trans. Actually.. hmm. Coul it be just forward of the brake pedal on the lower right side of the tractor?
If so.. then where is the crankcase dipstick? The dipstick on the lower right is yellow. I had assumed that was crankcase oil.. looks like I may be wrong. help...

thanks

Chris
