Took a while and it isn't perfect but I finally got my little grapple done.

PROS
Relatively inexpensive. About $750 complete with hydraulics, diverter etc. Dealer quoted me $3K.
Seems to work. The clamp finger put a good dent in a 2X4.
The big movable clamp and hyd. actuator are on with quick pins and hyd quick disconnects for fast removal.
No factory hyd. hoses were cut or modified so it can all be removed almost without a trace.
Loader bucket function is not impaired with the round grapple main beam in place.

CONS
Hyd. diverter valve and quick disconnects are kind of vulnerable mounted in that location.
The main top round beam has to be unbolted from the bucket for removal.

My apologies. I finally figured out how to load the pictures. You just have to wait a bit.

I applaud your determination if you cut everything with an angle grinder! Looks good!

If using a angle grinder I would highly recommend buying dewalt cutting wheels. That's all we buy and use them a lot for sheet metal work.

I hope the weather breaks soon. I'm running out of little projects.

Made a clamp in place backhoe bucket smoother outer.

And thanks to a thread on here, a wooden backhoe dolly.

A home made tooth bar.

Only one thing left to make. I have been quoted $2200 for A 60 inch mower deck. Yesterday I stopped at a friends house and literally tripped over a 60 inch Gravely shaft drive mower deck. It was on one of those rear engine Gravely's.
Not sure if it's doable but for free I sure am gonna try.

Stay tuned. :)

Are the spikes on the bucket square tube or solid. Look like sq tube, cut and and angle welded.

I made a set of debris forks for my backhoe loader out of 1-1/2"x1/4" wall square tube. Took me about 10 minutes to break one and mangle the set. My machine has an 8000 lb lifting capacity. :)

I would be repairing that old Gravely if the body is as good as it looks.

Have some solid sq material on an old rock picker that would work for the bottom tines. Also have some curved bars from an old rod weeder for the top jaw.

Nice job! Also nice that you can easily remove it all. Next thing is you'll want to get a bigger tractor...you have the bug now....:D

Giving me the itch to start on some form of bucket grapple or root rake type. Have an old bucket here that could be used as a base starting point. A little creative plasma cutting , some bottom spikes and a top clamp. Time for some sittn'n'thinkin.
