I am hoping some can help me with a Needle Reset problem I have on a NH 273 Baler. When the needles cycle they do not fully reset. I need to physically pull up on the rod attached to the brake and needle arm to get it to fully reset. At first it only occurred every 100 bales or so. But by the end of a 600 bale day it was doing it after every 10 bales. I am hoping someone on here may of run across this problem with their old NH Baler and can give me a direction on how to fix the problem.

Thank you for your time looking at my post, and hopefully helping me solve my problem.

First thing to check is condition and snugness of the needle brake. 2nd check condition of the knotter dog & spring.

X2 on the needle brake, i.e. make sure it's not resetting all the way but then bouncing back away from the home position. Check for anything worn in the rod and/or yoke that pulls the needles up into tying position and then back to the home position. You should be able to get that all checked out and adjusted cycling it by hand.
