Well Guys... I bit the bullet!
I owned a "Ford" 1520, new, since 1989.
I guess I didn't know it was too small, so it served me well in maintaining my rural place (with a woods 1012 Loader and Woods Blade. rotary Tiller, Post hole diggers and RM 59 mower).
So the time came to buy another, to maintain my larger property.
Deere 4720 was an option , but in my opinion it was less of a machine, even with the greater HP.
No question, the dealer will make the sale.
I bought a 4060 EHSST, rear Scv. Woods Brush Bull.....
Not cheap, but if it lasts 20+ years like the 1520 (which is still like New), who can complain.
I learned a lot from reading the messages from you guys.....
Thanks again...

Congrats! Like to see your pics...

As well, I'm curious about your deal, too. I'm very serious about a new cabbed Boomer in the 60hp range in the near future.

I've been comparing the NH to the cabbed Deere, 4000 machines as well.

Like to visit the NH dealer when the weather warms up (and the avalanches aren't blocking the highway)!

Best of luck with your new tractor.

I'd like pictures too. And your thoughts on selecting the transmission.

Did you look at Kubota or Massey models?

Did you get a cab?

Good luck with your new tractor

Thanks all for the good words.
I went with the open platform. I test drove the 4060 with a cab and it is sweet, but I don't need it and I like the open air and I mostly "work" in good weather. About the onlything I need to do in bad weather is snow removal....
NH offers a Hydro, shuttle shift X 12 and Electrohydraulic shuttle shift in 3045, Max.
The 4060 is offered in SS and EHSS. I like the EHSS, as it seems a lot easier for loader work., and I don't think the reduction of less than 1 PTO HP means much. The 3045 is also available with "Supersteer" a real neat option.Unfortunately the 4060 is not.
I looked at JD 4720 and I guess I just felt the NH was a stouter machine, even with a little less HP.
Since I had such good luck with my "Ford "1520" it was hard not to stay with NH.
Also, I like the dealer and that's worth a lot to me.
I am sure MF, Kubota , are great machines, but I guess NH sold me.
Also bought a 270TL loader with QA , grill guard, R4's,and a Woods Brush Bull (Medium duty) and rear scv....
I still don't know when I get it as the dealer ordered from NH..
Thanks for the advise....

A message to AK Fish....
You will want the cab . NH has a super nice cab..
Check it out.
Deere 4720 66Hp has more HP, but it is not as heavy or stout a machine.
For my use, I run out of traction before I run out of HP./ Also, the Deere costs more money.
Drive both(and MF and Kubota)and I am sure you will make the right decision
for you.
btw..your State is unique in the USA.. I watch all the Alaska shows with interest, from Ice road Truckers to Deadliest Catch , to Sarah Palin...., to Grizzle Man...
WoW! what a unique enviroment!
Good luck

Thanks, I'm gonna check 'em out! Hope to spend some time in the seat and run a couple of models around the lot.

Alaska is an incredible place! And I find myself very grateful for the life experiences that Alaska has presented me...
