I just picked up a pretty decent NH 450 sickle bar that had been stored for years. It came with a manual for a 451 which shows a zerk in the main shaft collar between the PTO input shaft (to tractor) and the belt pulley. There should be one right above the "J-bolt" that tightens the belt. I have searched and wire brushed and can not find any in that collar; logic tells me there must be as well. By chance did the 450 NOT have one there? It seems like there must be one for that shaft somewhere (maybe in behind the pulley?). Push comes to shove I am thinking the shaft looks like it would pull fairly easy and I can drill and tap one in.

Any ideas? Thanks!

If you got an answer to your question I would like to know what it is. I just purchased a NH 450 also and had the same question on lubrication of that location.
