A replacement cylinder SML48250 or CSE48250 is out of stock everywhere. The cylinder head SML41488 is no longer produced. I can get a rod and kit is all that is out there at the moment. Has anyone found a replacement for this. I even looked at the boom cylinder but found that it would be cheaper to look for another unit. I'm stuck at home with my broken toy.

The New Holland 758C was made by Schwartz manufacturing (SMC). However in 2011 the Souix Falls facility was shut down. The remaining production was moved to the Rhino ag group in Gibson City, Il. They were all Alamo companies. Perhaps Rhino can give you some advise? The last option is to find a generic replacement cylinder and make it fit.

Thanks for the info I will contact them. I was hoping that someone had used a generic cylinder as there ought to be one that is close and might require some massaging to make it work

Have you shown it to a good hydraulic shop? Over the years, I’ve had glands, pistons, new rods made with no problem for my Bradco backhoe.

No I have not taken it anywhere, right now I would prefer to remain at home and have the ability to do the repairs. I do have a shop locally that I usually get my hoses at. Thanks for the info

I received a new head from Bobcat tonight and took it down for a comparison. It look identical except this one doesn’t appear to ductile iron, looks more like machine steel. Comparing all the outer measurements I find that the biggest difference of .018 (that measurement is from the retainer ring groove to the top)with a lot of the same exact measurements. The only measurement was of the seat for the inner o ring as I have not taken this apart. The Bobcat head is number 6 693 699. I am wondering if Bobcat makes a rod for this also 756C3FDD-4B19-42EA-8C0C-AE1073CE1A28.jpeg

I did find a Bob Cat cylinder that has the same stroke, a slightly larger cylinder and slightly larger rod and a size up on hose connections. 3/8" must be remove on each side of the bottom mount (simple grinding) new bushings from Zorro, and a short adapter hose to make up the hydraulic lines. After 9 months some 50 trees later, the cylinder provides more power to pull through roots but is a tad slower in movement. Prior to installing this I found the bushings on the pivot pin that connect the two arms was cracked. found that the hole had been elongated at the factory to align the parts and less than a 1/16" inch weld bridged this gap and the well was made cold (low voltage setting). I thought the posting was attached to this, you can contact me for a list of the parts. I also found the same on the end weld bushings on the frame rail had to be re-welded.
