I am considering some options for overhead protection from falling dead limbs on my TN75, and was wondering if anyone has purchased the NH steel FOPS or similar from diff. mfg?

I can not seem to locate any specs on these and assume they offer somewhat better protection than just a std. canopy, but would like to know how much.

Any experience or advice out there with these options?

Thanks,

Bruce

I am in the process of getting the fiberglass canopy. I had wanted the steel one that is shown in the literature but my dealer could not find it in the computer or in the sales book as an option for the TN so the only option they listed was either a white or blue fiberglass canopy. Then NH messed up the order and I am still waiting for it. Cost around $420 but that is ok as it will hopefully be worth it.

As for protection, I would imagine it will protect you if it got hit by a large limb within reason. I have never had a situation where a limb fell on me or the TN nor has one fell anywhere near it. The only time I can see it being an issue is if you are pushing over trees that don't want to fall and start bouncing back and forth. I bought mine to shade me from the sun and elements and that is all I hope it will accomplish. If it will block a limb then great /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Robert, if you really want a steel canopy, tell your tractor dealer to call Wells Ag Company and ask what one would cost. I have no connection with the company, but that's the canopy I had on my '99 B2710 and sure did like it. They told me they only sell through tractor dealers, but would be happy to have additional dealers. Mine cost $295 in '99.

Wells AG, great canopy. Comes in either painted steel or diamond plate aluminum.

Thanks everyone but I have already ordered and paid for the figerglass one and have seen them on other tractors so I will give them a try. I am just use to metal but will not cause my dealer any headaches by switching now.

Spencer, where did you find the part number so I can let my dealership know for future reference. They were looking under the TN parts list and couldn't find it.

I am working on reclaiming some property. A good majority of property has old locust trees and others that have been overtaken by vines of various nature. I use the front end loader to 'grab' the vines in order to break them loose frm the tree. Sometimes the vines grab a limb when they come down.

Other times I have bumped a tree by accident and shaken a few limbs down too.

No harm to date and want to keep it that way.

My canopy just showed up at the dealers today so I will get it picked up and look it over and let you know if I think it would stop a branch or not. The fiberglass is about $100 cheaper then the metal and the only metal canopy I have seen was on a TS-115A.
