Has anyone opted for the NH grill guard for there TC tractor. I'm getting one put on mine and just wondering if it is as needed as the one on my b2400 was? It looks very sterdy but it has to be swung down out of the way to open the hood According to the pictures. I've not seen one up close yet. I should tomorrow when my tc35d4 w 16LA gets delivered.
thanks

My 7308 loader came with a grill guard & my dealer added another 5" wide plate above the bars already there. You do have to allow for the hood to clear when opening. I need to add more protection since I have dented my grill twice.

gary,
Glad to read you have only one more night of little sleep before your new NH arrives home.
Ahh...by any chance do you plan on calling in sick tomorrow for work. /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

I have one, your right it's sturdy. I think it would be more useful if you didn't have the loader on. It's going to protected against large objects, but small limbs will go right past the opening in the guard. I was thinking about adding some expaned metal to the back side of the gaurd in between the bars to help protect against smaller objects. I'm not real familar with kubotas gaurd, so I can't really help you there./w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

Gary not only would I opt for the grill guard but it would be one of those things I would end up modifying even more. I would want to close the holes between the bars even more with an expanded metal or more bars. The Ford 2120 I had , had no guard and before I knew it, I had limbs tearing up the front tin and headlamps. With a loader you need it even more since you will do things with the loader that you will not do without one, IE., try to load brush etc. Sometimes you will never know just how many times you protected the front end because the guard will just quietly do its job. Get the guard, Rat...

I use my 1720 in the brush all the time and never ever thought of a bush guard. It sounds like a really good idea though!!! What's one look like and how much do they cost about? Not really close enough to my dealer to make a casual run over./w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif
Sun shining today so have to smile!!!!/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
Have a great day!

alan, there's a good picture of one on a TC40 on page 20 and 21 of their Boomer cataloge. The picture shows the hood up and the grill guard swung down out of the way. The tractor in the picture doesn't have a loader on it so you can see exactly how it works with the loader in the way.
Aslo the NH 2001 calendar has a few pictures with the guard attached.

BTW. we're having a little bad weather(ice, snow and rain) today so I've put off the delivery until tomorrow./w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

the grill guard looks really great. And the lever to lower the grill is really well designed also. I agree there perhaps needs to be some screen between the grill pipe and a little higher. I'm going to put it on my welding to do's list. But first, I'm going to add some hooks to the bucket.
Probably just drill some holes and bolt the hooks on rather than weld them on.

Eleven year old post but what the hey?
I added the NH grille guard to my TC40S last year and now when I drive out to a worksite, the fiberglass engine cowling shimmies about-haven't found any cracks around the mounting points yet but do keep an eye out for them.
