Went to local NH dealer the other day for some misc. parts and noticed that all the new Blue had been moved to back of dealership. Everything up front was new Orange. When I asked why all the Blue was in the back they informed me that NH wanted them to sell only NH or not sell it at all. They chose to sell Orange and stopped being a NH dealer effective Sept. 1. These people have been selling Ford and then NH for almost 35 years. The parts person I spoke with was very upset with NH.

Anyone else seen this happen recently?

My local NH dealer also sells MF. They sell a lot of each brand. Still has both.

I have not seen this, but some high over educated business degree person most likely came up with the idea.

It may very well work in the big population areas that can support many different dealers. But in rural areas, I can certainly see allowing dealers to sell more than one brand, due to lack of volume sales.

When I was tractor shopping the nearest Blue dealer was to far away to even consider buying one. I never even went and looked at a blue tractor. If they had been allowed to sell beside my little mom and pop Kubota dealer they would have had an equal chance in getting my money.

I think in the long run it will cost them money.

We sell New Holland & Buhler side by side. No word on being an exclusive NH dealer.

sounds like an attempt to squeeze the market for more $$.

fewer dealers means if you want NH parts, youll HAVE to pay the price...

whats the story with CaseIH then?

I have heard many stories in my area about the New Holland dealers closing. From what I have heard they are putting many restrictions on the dealers. One thing I have heard is the if the current dealers wants out he cannont just sell the dealership, New Holland has the option of taking the franchise or letting it go to the new owner. I do know that they have lost market share in my area rather drastically since Fiat bought out Ford New Holland about 1990 or so. From the informatiom I get they have lost market share steadily to Deere over the last decade or so and Case IH has lost share since the buyout of CaseIH from Tenneco four or five years ago.

There was a similar thread to this in the JD section, Deere has supposedly been doing the same thing. Personally, I feel they are just trying to weed out smaller dealers and have larger regional dealers in place, with satellite locations, much like Cat did a few years ago.

First, any franchiser no matter what color the tractor has to approve the new owner and may or may not accept them.
Second, New Holland has been gaining market share every year for the last severial years and Deere is loosing market share every year.

I was talking to a member of the NH dealer counsel today and he would like to know the location of this dealer. He stated there had been a discussion about it in the past but after seeing how it had affected green dealers decided it would be a bad move.
