Tractor runs fine for 2-3 hrs then unexpectedly quits. I would describe it as a 途un down as it doesn稚 stone cold quit. It starts losing power then just slowly dies out. Got it started briefly for few seconds twice, but same 電ie down? Tractor was just in for service last week. Has just under half tank so not out of fuel. Acts to me like fuel starve problem but I知 not real savvy on engine. Any thoughts before I have to take it back to the. Butcher would be appreciated.

Faulty fuel pump, fuel shutoff solenoid failing, could be a number of things.

Yeah, the fuel shutoff solenoid would be the cheap/easy "try it" item after checking fuel supply and vent cap items.

Mine had identical symptoms and it was gasoline mixed in with the diesel fuel. Top yours off with diesel and see if it helps, or smell the tank with the fill cap off and see if you can detect gas smell.l

or dirt in the fuel tank.

It sounds like a fuel delivery issue. Since it runs for up to three hours I would suspect some thing floating near the tank bottom that eventually clogs the outlet strainer. I would start by running the tractor until it quits then opening the fuel line at the filter outlet, and checking for fuel. If you have none or it's just a trickle, move to the fuel filter inlet and see if you have adequate fuel flow at the point. If it's still just a trickle disconnect the fuel line and blow through the line with compressed air. If you now have fuel flow, this is a temporary fix. You'll need to drain the tank and clean out the bacterial sludge that's in the tank. This is caused by water in the fuel that allows bacteria to live in the fuel/water interface. Try to keep the fuel tank full to minimize water condensation and treat your fuel with a biocide.
