The PTO light is on but it won't crank.
key was stuck in the start position,
engine quit and will not restart.
starter is good. will crank if you touch grounded test light to purple wire #41 at starter relay. all fuses ok.
is there some kind of safety we are overlooking?
does anyone have the wiring diagram ? or is there a place on this website that has such files?
thanks

I think you have a blown fuse. Check your fuses carefully. On the TC35/TC40/TC45 a PTO light with the PTO at off is a sure sign of a blown fuse. I think you may have the same problem. Otherwise your PTO On sensing switch could be bad.

I had the same problem with my TC29D. Check the wiring harness on the left side underneath the tractor. Look around the area on the main tractor casing/frame where all the PTO levers come down and hook on. There is a wire with a two prong male that fits in a female socket. Mine had become just a little loose, but appeared connected. I pulled it apart, cleaned it, put together and all was well. Sympton was light on dash glowing and would not crank.

Key stuck in start position may mean an ignition switch in your future, too.

Ditto on this. My wire had pulled loose on some brush.

I had the same issue. For the good of the order, my tractor actually just quit while it was running. I only had the PTO light on the dash the other didn't light up. It turns out that a stick or something actually pulled the wires out of the PTO switch in the transmission. Thanks for the post it really help me figure out what was going on.

My bare wires must have shorted out because my fuse was also blown. It took me a minute to figure that out since I didn't see the top fuse initially and thought I had check them all. It wasn't until I went back over them with a flashlight that I saw that I missed the real top fuse.

If you find yourself having to pull the switch out of the transmission to soldier the leads back on it have a extra bolt handy to temporarily plug the hole so all your tranny fluid doesn't leak out.

Thanks for the post saved me tons of time. :)
