I've been reading up on both of these tractors and their respective loaders. There doesn't seem to be any difference between them, outside of color. Anyone have info to the contrary?

Also, does anyone know if the quick-attach loader is available for either or both tractors?

I believe that Case and NH are owned by the same parent company (Fiat?). If so, the similarity is not accidental.

I don't believe you can get SuperSteer in Red.

Hi Sam, good luck with your move to the country. While you are moving south of the Metro-mess, I am northwest in Wise County (almost Montague County). Regarding your question about the NH vs. Case, I think in our area you will find many more NH dealers than Case dealers. Since the tractors are the same except for a coating of paint, I'd stick with the NH just because my NH dealer is close and very good. If you have a good Case dealer near Waxahachie, I might lean toward Case, but I don't think you will find that to be the case (no pun intended)./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif Also, the TC-35 is a great little machine. It seems you have made a good choice. I'd look at all the other colors though (Deere, Kubota, Massey, Kioti, etc.) just so I'd be confident I made the right choice. You can buy a Kioti DK-45 (without hydrostatic tranny) with loader and all the goodies for a little less than you will pay for your TC-35. E&E Tractor in Azle, TX sells Massey, Mahindra, & Kioti. If you are interested, it just might be worth your drive to go by there and check them out for comparison. Don't get into a hurry, it can only get you into a deal you may have second thoughts about at some later time.

JimI, Waxahachie is just about 30 miles north of me, and yes there is a Case dealer there with several of those red boomers sitting out there. It's rather interesting that the same folks who own that Case dealership also have a Case dealership in Hillsboro and both Case and Kubota in Waco (where I bought my Kubotas). There is also a Kubota dealer in Waxahachie; pretty nice folks there, too, although the dealership in Waco beat his prices. For New Holland, I guess the closest dealer for Sam would be south down I-35 to Hillsboro. And Waxahachie has a Tractor Supply Co. store, too./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Sam, where around Waxahachie are you building?

Bird - I'm just SW of Waxahachie, not quite halfway between Waxahachie and Maypearl a mile or two off FM 66. Bought a tract of land from the Tx. Gen. Land Office, it used to be Super Collider property. And in case your wondering, no tunnels. ;)

Hillsboro may be something to look into. Since living in Dallas, I always think of it being far away, but from Wax. it is about the same distance as it is to Dallas.

Did you look at the Case/NH when you bought your Kubota?

JimI - I gave serious consideration to moving out your way and would still like to some day. But the 'boss' preferred staying south because the majority of our family lives on this side of the 'Metro-Mess', which is an appropriate term.

I went by the Case dealer here in Waxahachie and sat on a D35, needless to say I was impressed. Mostly with the layout of the controls, the operator area seemed very clean and un-cluttered with controls all over. I assume the TC35 would be the same but the NH dealer in Irving didn't have one.

I appreciate your advice about not getting in a hurry. I usually try to get as much info as I can before making a decision of this magnitude. Only problem is if i don't buy soon, the next thing you know I'll be looking at 50+ hp tractors! :)

Sam, when I was shopping for a tractor in '95, I looked at a bunch of brands, but the New Holland dealer in Waco didn't have any tractors of the size I was interested in at the time, and I was leaning toward Kubota because of a friend's recommendation and the fact that the dealers had more of them to try out and compare. And the Deere dealers were just too proud of that green paint. Then in '99 when I traded up in size, I didn't really consider the others. My cousin bought a New Holland TC29D several months after I bought my '99 Kubota. And the Case dealership in Waxahachie wasn't there in '95 and didn't have the compact tractors until recently.

I had the Waxahachie Kubota dealer order the components for me to put hydraulic Top 'N Tilt on my B2710; they're nice folks, try to be helpful, and have a larger inventory of Kubota tractors on hand all the time, but don't know their products as well as the dealer in Waco and their prices are a little higher.

If you want to shop around, and need any help finding the dealers, let me know. I think I know where all of them are in Hillsboro and Waco, and of course, I'm sure you know where they are in Waxahachie.

Sam, I think you are right to buy from the dealer you will do the most business with. If Case is closer and they also have a good reputation for service, I'd go with them. One other thing I forgot to mention. I began looking for tractors in earnest about July of 2000 and finally bought in early Feb. 2001 because New Holland gives a $500 Ft.Worth Stock Show discount on purchases of new tractors. If you can wait until Feb. 2002, I'm sure you might find a little sweeter deal./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Just got a chance to look through the Site after a week away, and want to let you know (in case you need some feedback to help with your choice) that I've had excellent experience so far with my Case-IH DX40. As you are doing now, I also pondered a long time over the NH vs Case-IH choice, and checked out comparable equipment from the nearest JD folks. When I ordered it new in July, I chose the Case-IH over the NH because of the color. We have a blue VW New Beetle and a white Dodge pickup, so I wanted Patriotic colors, because I thought all other factors were about equal. Seemed like the best way to choose at the time......

So, I've played, I mean worked, it for almost 50 hours since taking delivery in the first week of September, and I am very happy.

I have the "quick-attach" loader and it is excellent; it's the same as the NH. Also bought the toothed bar for its 6' HD bucket, and I'm glad I did; it's been really helpful in digging and picking up old trash, stumps, barrels and fence posts in areas that have grape and other roots and where it's overgrown.

Supersteer: for what I've been doing, lots of cleanup and mowing and so forth in close quarters, but I have not yet seen the need for it. This tractor has a really small turning radius. By the way, I chose the 40 hp model for the potential to get the mid PTO later.

The only thing that's been slightly less than perfect is when mowing the overgrown weeds at this time of year, most 4 to 5 feet tall, lots of seeds and "fluff" are drawn into the front of the radiator, and the temperature will start to rise; a quick clean off and all is well again. Asked the dealer about a foam piece or other shield or insert to place between the under side of the hood and the radiator/battery frame, and he's checking on it; I think I read here or somewhere else about something like that available. If not, I'll make one.

Other wise, no adjustments needed, no problems so far, and after the first few minutes on it, I felt like I had been using it for many months, it was that comfortable.

Oh yes, I bought the Woods BB720 Medium Duty mower, and it's heavy! This tractor handles it well, but I have not used it yet without the FEL as a front weight balance. Same for the heavy duty Woods 72" Tiller; it handles it well. And the cruise control: I never thought about needing it, but it's a great tool when tilling or mowing.

I'm really happy with the information I gained from this site; everyone's been really helpful and I went into the dealerships with a lot more information than I could have picked up anywhere else, and it's all accurate, too. So thanks to all you "www.tractorbynet.com" folks out there. You've really been helpful.

I wish you the best, TxSam, and I know you're having fun right now, but nowhere near as much as after you take delivery!

Bill,

I don't know how tight the mesh is on the Case grille, but this is how I solved a similar problem on a Satoh tractor... {and other tractors I've had...}

I placed "fine mesh" screen {same as for a screen door/window} over the radiator with wire hooks that hold/suspend it in place...

About every 40-60 minutes, I take a brush and take the debris off...

On my John Deere, the mesh{outside} is designed better and tight... and I stop about every 45 minutes and clear the debris with my gloves in a few seconds... I also have a brush mounted inside the front end to clean up other area's...

No matter what you do, it's part of the job to stop every so often and clear/clean the debris from the radiator area to prevent the potential overheating problem...

Indeed, there is a foam insert that is located between the bottom of the radiator and the battery box. I had mine replaced under warranty when I got work done due to battery acid leakage. I have a picture of it, but I think the best image is in the parts manual. If you'd like, I'll upload a scan of it, but it will probably be Wednesday before I get to where my parts manual is located. Nothing but dust gets into my TC45D radiator. The fine grill screen and the foam are very effective at stopping leaves, trash, and vegetation "lint" from clogging my radiator./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Thanks for the info, John; the Case-IH has a reasonably small mesh in the grilles, and they do keep most stuff out, but the bulk of the stuff on the radiator is coming up from ther bottom, where there's a large gap....

I think I'll mount an air compressor on it and a couple of air guns out there on the back side of the radiator, with solenoid valves and a button on the dash... just give a blast every half hour or so... no, no, just kidding! It gets just a little goofy here at 1:00 a.m.! Bill

Thanks, JimI; I'll check with the dealer when I return it for the 50 hour service next week... already told him I need one, and that the factory must have inadvertently left it off... Bill

Bill, thanks for reminding me that I promised you a scan and then forgot to send it...old age, I guess. /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif Here is a scan of the parts manual page which shows the foam rubber insert (ref.#8) which is part no. 86400277 and it also shows the lint screen (ref.#14) which is part number 86558901. If you are missing either of these pieces, you will get a radiator full of trash, lint, and maybe even small animals./w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
Here's the way it is shown in the parts book.

Thanks for the drawing, Jim; both parts are in place... the path of intrusion must be someplace other than those two. I appreciate your help, and it narrows the search considerably. Bill.
