Hi,

My 2000 model NH TC40D (Hydrostatic drive) is equipped with a switch who's function is to set the tractor in a "Cruise control" type mode so the operator does not have to keep the drive-pedal constantly pressed. Pressing the "cruise" switch on mine illuminates the light on the toggle switch, but the cruise function does not happen.

Suggestions from anyone experienced with this problem that might tell me what the remedy is would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, mk

Posting in the NH Owning/Operating Forum would get you a much faster response.

I think your problem might be a broken wire to the electromagnet, a bad magnet, or a loose connection. The electromagnet is under the right side operator's platform behind a "B" shaped plate attached to the hydro pedals. The magnet looks like a 3" doughnut. Follow the wires and see if they are connected or broken. If you are any good with a voltmeter, you can also check by engaging the switch and checking for power to the magnet. Don't bother starting your tractor. Just turn the key on and engage the switch. It works with the tractor running or not running.
