My wife and I used to go up to the falls between Christmas and New Years for the festival of the lights. The falls were always partially frozen. One year, it was -20f. We had a hotel close to the falls. The wind shifted overnight and the mist from the falls came over the hotel parking lot, locking our car in a very thick layer of ice. It took me 45 minutes just to get into the trunk, crawl through the back seats, start the car and let the heater run for half an hour. Then I was able to punch the ice and get it to fracture enough to get the doors open. Great fun. The falls are beautiful in the winter. The lights at night, everything in the area covered in ice is quit spectacular. I recommend everyone see that in winter at least once in their life.
