Took this for the John Deere guys. Was one of the decorations at the North Carolina state fair here in Raleigh.

Was hard to keep my tongue in mouth and from slobbering all over myself. I could think of better decorating though - sitting at my house with a FEL for starters! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

There was no one around to talk to about getting a good trade on my Jinma... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks for posting the pictures. I like the idea of getting one of those and some corn stalks as decoration for my front porch for Halloween. Certainly would make the neighbors look twice.

Should be one on everyone's front stoop. What a conversation piece!! How is North Carolina these days? I was born in Henderson NC and haven't seen the area since the early 80's. Miss the green, but not the humidity.

Hey Frank!

NC is good. I use to work up in Oxford and we would go into Henderson for lunch. Pretty country up there – lots of big farms and land. Have a friend whose father-in-law owns a 175 ac. horse farm up there – what a great place.

Yes, the humidity here is still terrible. Doubt it’s changed much since you left. But, come fall, and days like today and the past week or so make it all worthwhile. It has been absolutely gorgeous here. The air is starting to cool, the leaves are turning and mornings are starting to get a little chill to them – doesn’t get much better than that in my book.

You’re in a nice place too though. Made a few trips out to Phoenix when I was working in Oxford. Always enjoyed going to Phoenix and tried to extend into the weekend so I could go driving/exploring up north of the city. Loved going up to Sedonia (??) I think it was, it was off the main highway – 17, I think – I would cross over a mountain range down into town. For a desert, it was so beautiful and I loved the drive. Have always wanted to take my wife back.

Thanks for the update. Yes, this time of year in North Carolina is what I miss the most. That slight chill in the morning really gets the blood a running. Makes you really enjoy working outdoors. I remember those days, as a child I lived on a 40 acre farm outside of Henderson. I remember going down to Kerr Lake and eating BBQ and Hush puppies. Man, I do miss the place!!

Sedona is a very pretty place for a desert setting. The colors in the rocks are very interesting. The next time you head this way you must see 2 things. The Grand Canyon outside of Flagstaff and the little town of Alpine on the eastern border. It is the closest thing to the North Carolina woodlands that I know of in the State of Arizona.
