Nice People

There are nice people in this world. Started about a year ago at the VA. Guy gave me his free lunch ticket. A while later I was kidding a Dr. about needing some $$$. she slipped an envelope in my hand, when I opened it there was a $10.00 bill in it. Buying some groceries, fumbling for a little money to finish paying the bill. At the PO same story a lady be behind me paid the $$ that I was short.

Today pump went out on swamp box. OH crap, 3o miles to town for new pump. OH crap forgot my wallet, not even any rattle money.
Lady at
Ace Hardware came out as I was driving away, with the pump in her hand. She said I will save this for you. I thought she meant the pump, Nope she meant the sales slip. Handed me the pump & says pay for it next time you come by. She had never seen me before.

Make you feel good to hear nice things once in while. Don't think we hear enough of "good news" any more.

I think it is a combination of you and where you are...

I grew up in Oakland California and have some of the best neighbors and co-workers... that said I am floored when I in Washington State at just how friendly people tend to be...

I guess once you get out of the metro areas their is still a lot of business done on a handshake... doesn't hurt that my Washington neighbor took me under his wing when it came to locating trades people... a friend of George was good enough... as in send me a check when you get home... or no deposit or even the manager of the Lowes opening the store after closing so I could get a couple of needed plumbing parts...

That would NEVER happen here and pay for something by check at the hardware store... good luck.

I see it a lot here, I grew up in MA, it wasn't the same there. Most people go out of their way to help someone in need up here. It's a lot easier to be nice than it is to be nasty and better for you as well. We live in a screwed up society these days and when someone is kind it stands out. Honestly most people I deal with, neighbors, just about everybody I deal with day in and day out are nice people..

Having a tractor with all the snow we get makes me a important guy to people who don't have the means to remove snow by themselves. I have a 70 year old lady down the road that I remove snow for when her plow guy can't push it anymore, she makes about the best bread I have ever eaten, she stops by and gives me a loaf once in a while for removing the piles of snow in front of her garage.

Sharing stories about people and their kind acts are very refreshing in this day and time of hate and vitriol. Thanks for sharing your story and glad to see you posting on your thread again

One of my best friends lives about 400 yards away. He walked down twice to helpe me with the swamp box.

Have other neighbors not so nice. I work on "forgive, but don't forget." way of living.

Also try to find some humor in each situation. At Fry's 1 fellow looks for me, & makes sure i"m well taken care of. Gets my 50 pound dog food & has it at the front when I check out. ( humor Dog food =dog seeds)

At what I call the Indian store everyone there bends over back ward to help me. Bad back does not let me do many things I should do my self. They go to the cooler & get some 30 packs & put them in the truck for me.

Or bad day at bad block. Lots of pee & moaning but some some fun & silly stories.

The media makes everything bad. The only way they can sensationalized things for ratings. And if good and they can't spin it terrible, you won't hear it
