Friday the weather report called for a clear sunny day in the low 50s
. I had a bunch of branch piles at the farm that needed to be chipped up (note to self - it is a lot easier to chip them as you cut them). 50 is a great working temperature. The tractor was pretty hard to start. It had been pretty cold the last couple of nights but mostly I suspect it was that some darned fool left the key in and the ignition on for a month
and the battery was dead. Must have taken a half hour to get it started, warmed up and smoothed out. Branch piles seen to dull the knives much faster. I guess it is because there is a lot more dirt in the mix. I must have gotten about a third of the piles chipped. The ground was a little muddy but nothing like spring will be. You can't count on getting anything done outdoors in January so this was pure gravy for me. How is January going for you?
