Coyotes are fired up tonight. Sounds like a hundred of them howling and yipping.

Rabbits hopping around the yard.

Will them come together?

Foxes and skunks hard on our yard bunny rabbits. Coyotes seem to prefer the deer over the rabbits.

When the pack that lives by us starts howling at around 10pm, it sounds like 50 of them, no joke!

A VERY LONG time ago when I was single, the title of this thread would of meant something completely different.

The funny part is I my first thought was thinking about game animals and predators, but for a flash in the moment, I was thinking about one place I always use to go when I was young and single:laughing:

Foul smelling and flea infested, not my idea of cute.
About every couple of months we get foxes going through the place, sound like cats and sets the dogs off, nothing of interest on our place for them, they won't go near horses.

Thankfully there are no foxes in Tassie... and we keep it that way via a TasGov programme/section to investigate any possible sightings.

Night Life is fairly standard for me: an evening mob of wallabys and potaroos, in from my neighbouring State Forest. They do a bonza job lawning my property. Brush-tail possums are regular visitors (and make a horrible sound during mating season). The ground is too hard due to drought at the moment for bandicoot visits, but they've been here in the past. Quolls are around.

Peaceful for the most part. :)

Hear coyotes often. The woods are probably 100 yards away but it sounds like they're right at the edge of the yard fence.

About a quarter mile down our lane a couple has an animal sanctuary. Ten years ago I did not know this. Sometimes at night I would walk out in pasture among the lazy cows laying around. One night about midnight I was just about to walk down trail through the woods when I heard the creepiest sound. Turns out it was the neighbor's hyenas.

Hey, nobody's perfect. :D

Seen them in the wild (in Africa) they are a mangy looking creature, often wondered if they would look more presentable if looked after.

Re Coyotes - Mating season starts now and goes for 6 weeks. Quiet nights are out for now.

We've got a Barred Owl living in the woods near our house. The first time I heard it during mating season, I thought WTF is that. Those birds let out some pretty strange noises.

My local coyote pack isn't always right nearby, but when they are, it sure sounds like dozens. They howl in response to train horns coming through town (6x/day but they only howl at night or dusk/dawn) and occasionally at sirens if a multi engine fire is going down in the area.

Somehow the pack never gets the nerve to come out of the woods and grab the ducks/chickens/goats/rabbits that roam freely at my neighbors place.
