Every new diesel is fully emissioned up, DPF, SCR, EGR the works. You can "delete" if you want to, but not legally speaking. I doubt anything new will last like the old iron, but they are vastly better trucks these days - better power, braking, safety, towing, you name it. It's all a trade off in the end. I'll probably own this one for the same 15+ years as the old one, I don't change 'em like underwear - but I don't do the high miles either, maybe 8-10k/year max. 90% of the time the truck is moving it's working though. One benefit of the Nissan is the warranty of 5 years/100k miles. This one year old truck has more remaining warranty than even the brand new Fords I was looking at. I don't buy on warranty, but I couldn't knock those numbers especially with the new emissions farkles.

I made a post about the trailer in another recent thread, but it's a 14k 20+4ft manufactured by a local company here in Ohio. A 12-14k bumper pull will save a bit on total weight of course, but with the factory gooseneck hitch I couldn't pass up the other advantages.

I load the tractor backward, that is, backhoe towards the front. This allows me to get the pin weight up to 20%.

I've not seen too many goosenecks shorter than this one, so normally you can just pull further forward. Since I was coming back from Rural King the brush hog and grapple were in the way, but I still could move about a foot even with all that on there. The chances all that stuff will be on there at the same time again, especially with the hoe on the tractor as well, is about 0% I imagine. That'll give plenty of room to position the load to suit. How long is your deck vs. your tractor length on your setup? This trailer was either the smallest or 2nd smallest on the little lot I bought it from, and of course the tractor itself isn't all that big. It's the biggest/longest trailer I've ever personally owned so it seems like a giant parking lot up there compared to what I'm used to!
