I've finally taken of a picture of one of my favorite creations. I wanted a wood burner that kept my feet warm too. (Half 44 gallon drums and beer kegs only warm you from the knees up at best). This beauty was thrown together in a day using free stuff scrounged off the footpath on our annual 'hard rubbish day'. The tray is an old fridge door. Most of the frame is cut from a laundry basket trolley. (I put all 4 wheels onto one axle). The side and bottom grilles are fridge shelves and bits of scrap mesh. Its easy to move even when its loaded and lit, and it doesnt scorch the lawn. (Theres another sheet of tin inside the tray too). Its rusting up quick in the sea air, but it works a treat and didn't cost me a cent.

Looks pretty good to me. Are you saying it gets cold down there?

Yep, Bassackwards seasons down there, but then again they say the same thing about us:) Been down under around christmas several times. It is hard to get in the christmas mood when it is 100 degrees out. Santa in shorts dosn't do much for the mood either:) It is a good thing they had such good beer to help me get over it...

I'm 53, never seen snow, and can't say I miss it. Looks nice on TV but thats about as close as I need to get. (My friend in the US says he's seen more than enough snow for both of us). Some places do have snow here in winter but fortunately they are easily avoided. :) To be honest I hate the cold. It just brings me to a halt. But its not always hot here, or even warm. It can sometimes gets down to about 0C (32F) in the middle of a Winter's night. Mid-Winter days average around 15C (60F) I guess. Fortunately we have a pretty short winter.

Theres nothing better than seeing the kids unwrap their pressies in a warm sun-filled room on a Christmas morn, or having Christmas lunch followed by a few beers out in the sun.
