tc- 29d
I have a TC 29D; was useing a subsoiler today and I hit a "hard" spot in soil which caused alot of force on the 3 ph. It then pushed up to top of soil and I now cannot grt it to dig back into soil. 3 PH will raise and lower; but it acts like there is no down force. I can stand on subsoiler and 3 ph will pick me up and I can lower it, stopping at any position, but when I try to sink the subsoiler into ground; it will not go in. There were no noises when it stalle dthe tractor and stopped.

For your tractor the lift cylinder in single action only. It will lift up only. There is no down force can be exerted by your lift system. Dropping/ lowering of the implement and 3 point arm is done by force of gravity and weight of the implement. In case of the subsoiler, you set the angle of attack in a manner to dig itself in by froward motion of tractor. You are not pushing the tip of the subsoiler in.. it is rather pull itself in. use your top link to make a more steep angle between the blade of SS and the flat ground. You might have bended the tip some when you hit the hard ground.

Most tractors don't have downforce on 3 pt hitch. You either need to change the angle so the implement digs in or add weight to force it in.

Yep.. as others said.. no 3pt downforce.. and if it had it.. it might serve to unweight the rear of the tractor.. thus aiding it to loose traction.. etc.

I've only seen 1 tractor with downforce on the 3PH... and that was one of those Russian Belarus 420's if I remember the number correctly...

eeeeewwwwww...

Boy, that salesman was pushing hard to get me to buy that hunk of junk.

Some of the David Brown 990's had downforce. I'm not aware of any CUT that does.

If you are trying to dig into dry soil it sometimes is difficult to get the subsoiler started. You will need to shorten your toplink to get it to "dig-in". The problem is that if you shorten the top-link to get it to dive, it will continue to try and dive, and in very hard soil it can pull the entire back end of the tractor downward and will eventually stall the tractor.

This is one of the great uses of a hydraulic toplink - shorten to get the subsoiler to dive, then lengthen a bit to plane out and drive forward.

Very few tractors of any size have "Actual" hyd down force some of the russian stuff like belarus had it on smaller tractors and you can change a rear tire by putting the arms down on a stump or something similar .
But that is double acting hydraulics ?
I had a caseIH magnum 240hp that would push down so hard it would tear bottoms off the plow and shanks off the tiller in hard land .
Im Ex british and seen my fill of David browns the only down force they had was blow-by from the breather ..A monkey of a tractor ?

The Belarus that I looked at had double-acting hydraulics on the 3PH. No position control... it was controlled by a regular spool valve. You had up, down, and float.
