I was cutting my yard and my tractor just stopped. I have fire but no fuel, I replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter and the only way it will start is to pour fuel into top of carb then it dies as soon as this burns out. Is there a switch that controls the fuel on this model??

You need to start tracing it back and find out where you arent getting fuel.

Personally, I'd start by unhooking the fuel line from the carb. If it is an electric fuel pump, simply turning the key ON should make fuel flow out the hose. If it is a mechanical pump, you may need to crank the engine over. Of you arent getting fuel, go to the next place there is a connection.

If it is a mechanical FP like on the side of the motor, it is possible that there is a hole in the line between it and the tank. Then it would only be sucking air.

Why kind of fuel pump is it?

It is a mechanical fp. Its is putting fuel to carb but not thru it. Is there an electrical switch of any kind that can go bad on that model?

Not sure if it is related to your problem, but when I bought my JD
riding mower, the dealer said to open the gas cap if it shutdown.
Seems they were having many coming back into the shop and the
only problem was the gas cap causing a vacuum. Replaced the
gas caps and everything was fine. Luckily it has not happened to
my unit so far.

I can pull fuel line off and stick into top of carb and it runs. I guess a jet may have trash in it??There is something electrial on botttom of bowl where you would see a drain bolt....wonder what it does?

Yep, sounds like a plugged jet to me. Not sure what the "electrical" thing is you are talking about. But it sounds like the carb is in need of a good cleaning

There is a fuel solenoid on that carb, according to jdparts.

Not sure if this is some EPA crap or CA stuff added to appease the "can't do that's", but will be good to be sure it is working and allowing fuel to flow. Can't say for sure how to check it out.

This fuel solenoid may shut off the fuel if the mower deck PTO is engaged. Just wondering if you are sure it is disengaged, on the chance that the two are connected. Wierd way to do it but then these safety tricks are wierd to begin with.
