Mahindra 3215
Hi,
I have 2008 Mahindra 3215 with only 180 hrs. and I let it sit for about a week in my garage and now it will not start. It cranks over fine but will not start. There is fuel in the tank and the whole system is full. I bled any air from the system as per the instruction manual, and all seems ok there. However, there is no fuel at the injector, as I loosened the compression nut at the top of the injector, turned on the key and cranked the engine. Here is my question: Is it possible that the fuel cutoff solenoid on the pump itself has failed? There is 12vat the plug with the key turned on. If that might be the problem, How does it come off? It does not look like there are any fasteners holding it in place. Does it screw out somehow?

Hopefully it is not the pump itself! Is there a test that I can run that would isolate the problem? I have some knowhow when it comes to mechanics, but I would like to know specifically how to troubleshoot this problem before I try my "backyard mechanics" on it.

Thanks for any input you folks may have!

I would place my bets that your problem is with the fuel shutoff solonoid. The solonoid does screw out and once it is out you can bench test it with a battery.
Good luck with it.

Thanks Galen, I will check that out tomorrow, it is around 8:30 here and I'm in for the night. Should I get a service manual for this rig if one is available ? And if they are where would be the best place to look for one?

Check all your fuses before you do anything and also look on the starter and be sure the small wire has not popped off the solenoid. the fuel shut off can go bad but it can also be the key switch not sending the right power to the fuel shut off. a test light will let you know what is getting power and were its not. Good luck and keep us updated.

Hey Navasot,

I was just thinking that I never get that lucky as for the problem to be something simple like a fuse or a loose wire, but I just went out to the garage and checked the starter solenoid and there it was.. The red wire on the bottom of the sol. was just barely off. It is stiff wire with a female spade connector and it looked like it was still hooked up, but it was off (yahooooo). That was a simple fix and it started right up after that!!

Thank you very much for saving me a bunch of frustration and a few hundred dollars, I really appreciate the input from you guys! The people on here really know their stuff, I'm glad I discovered this place!

Thanks again
