I have a Kubota 2201 three cylinder that won't start. I confirmed that there is fuel from the filter to the pump but nothing out from the injector lines when I try to bleed? Does this mean a fuel injector pump failure?
As you have the D1101 engine have you checked the lubrication oil level in the injection pump?
I would check the lube oil level in the pumps oil sump and add oil to full then try bleeding it again by loosening the fuel lines at the pump(just a little bit) and then at the nozzles.
I doubt very much that you have a bad pump it probably just needs lube oil in the pump.
Thank you. It's actually a L2201DT, which I'm told is a L245. I didn't know it had an oil sump and I don't see a dip stick anywhere to check oil? When I take the lines off of the fuel injector unit there is fuel present but no pressure. The fuel is gravity from tank to filter to the fuel injector unit.
if you look at the base of the injection pump there should be an allen plug where the motor oil is added to overfull from what I remember, the upper half is lubricated by the diesel fuel and the lower end is lubricated by motor oil. no dip stick in it as the pump would blow it out.
The oil level has to be pouring out of the pump before you put the plug back in.
Did you crack the line entering the injection pump and then crank the engine over?
If you pull on the decompression lever the engine will pump fuel faster and you should be able to see fuel coming out of the nuts connecting the fuel lines to the top of the cylinders after you crack open the nuts holding the fuel lines-be sure to pull up on the fuel lines after to crack the nuts to allow the air to escape.
No electric shutoff. I pull a lever to shut the engine down. I'll look for allen keys and check the oil level. I do use the decompression cable to do a start. It will be a few days before I get back to it but I will let you guys know how I make out. Many thanks to everyone for their input.
