My theory on the ground burning because of the glow plugs is flawed. The glow plugs ground directly through the block. I've never looked at an F model, but the YM's have a plastic fuse box about 2 x 3 on the lower left side of the steering cowl, just above the clutch pedal with a snap close lid. I think I remember seeing a picture of an F model fuse block on this forum. Do I site search for fuse holder, fuse panel, or fuse block. Still check for a loose ground. Thats what happened on my 2500. The diagram only shows one ground, so that is probably just for diagram purposes to show which wires are grounded, and doesn't indicate a specific location. They are usually black. Look for wires that are just connected to the block or alternator housing. Take the test light and see if there is power on the ground wire for the headlights, if there is, the ground is open. For checking the fuses, you should have power on both sides of the fuse with the key on. If not, then the fuse is open. Also check the fuse holders, as they can be corroded.
If you need to disconnect or reconnect the battery: Always disconnect the negative cable first. When hooking it back up, always reconnect the negative cable last. If you put your wrench on the positive post and the negative cable (ground) is still connected, and your wrench touches any metal part it will arc. If it is the radiator that the wrench touches it will arc a hole in your radiator and then you have a radiator to fix or replace.
