I have 2006 Nortrac NT-204C 3clyd. I got it stuck and lost all trans fluid, finally dug it out. replaced fluid after clean out. But now all I have is low gear. I have to have at least one gear in low and the other one in high for it to move. If both in high gear tractor will not move. Used hydraulic 46 fluid as replacement. Should i go with 40w oil first? Nortrac said that the clutch needs adjusting. Any help would be appreciated.:(

Sounds like you may have burned out the clutch trying to get it unstuck. Can't imagine getting stuck is related to losing "all trans fluid" though. You have to physically remove at least three drain plugs on the underside to do that. And adding hydraulic fluid was a waste of time and money. Now you're going to have to drain everything out and start over. Gear oil goes in the gear train housings (rear diff/trans/mid-connect/front diff), hydraulic fluid only goes in the hydraulic sump (the upper housing to which the operator seat is bolted). Assuming Michigan, use 80W90 GL4 gear oil and AW32 (or ISO32) hydraulic fluid.

Thanks greg, should I change fluids first? When I ran diesel fluid to clean it, the tractor ran in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and reverse. Now of course wrong fluid barely moves.

I agree that sounds like clutch is slipping or the throwout bearing bound up so the clutch is not releasing all way. If it was in deep mud or water/wet it could have rusted the input shaft and the clutch is now wedged on rust & not sliding correctly.

can you shift it into the gears OK but just wont move? try moving in lower gear with some weight (chained to heavy rock) see if it will spin tires...

You have fried the clutch. Its a dry clutch system so fluid has nothing to do with it. Greg and the others are right though, you need 80W90 gear oil in there, not hydraulic fluid. Only place a Jinma takes hydro fluid is in the hydraulic system and power steering pump if so equipped.
