Put it back together and run it. Nothing to lose at this point but, a lot of money and time saved to gain. Good chance it will run fine with no issues.

I really dont blame them. Given the history the OP states why would they stick their necks out for possible issues down the road. People like to turn everything into everybody else's fault.
