Jinma 354
Hello,

My Jinma 354 with 25 hours on it does not have oil pressure. I always watch the oil pressure on start-up and it never left the peg this time. Pulled the sending unit, started it up and no oil came out. Crankcase is just a little below the full mark. Any ideas? Anybody pull the pan on one of these and can give me a little info on what kind of a job it is? Kind of worried because I really can't say I was "watching" the oil pressure gauge last I used it, so don't know if I ran it with no pressure or for how long if I did.....

Thanks in advance for your help

Bill

First try a new oil filter. 25 hours might be enough for the filter to collapse. it has happended before. When it happened to us, the filter was the last thing we checked. let us know... by the way, if this is 3 cylinder ty395 engine, the oil pump is under the front timing cover. we had a 2 cylinder of this design were the pump came loose and turned, blocking its own ports. but before we go there, lets check the filter.

Bill,

When you figure this out please let me / us know what you find.

I have a 354 too (100 hours) runs very strong & oil pressure is pretty rock solid at around 80 PSI. So I have an extreme interest in what you find.

I hope it's something as simple as the oil filter.
Just in case you need to know a NAPA Gold 1515 oil filter fits the TY395 engine. I have one installed right now & no problems.

Could it be possible an Oil pickup tube has become disconnected or clogged inside the pan? I am not sure how that is configured inside the 395 engine.

You mentioned you have 25 hours, has the shipping "oil" been changed since you received your tractor?

Also it's my understanding that the oil filter mounting assembly has an internal bypass should the filter become clogged so I find it hard to understand that a collapsed / clogged filter would cause zero oil pressure unless I do not understand it's function properly.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Well....Hats-Off to Bluechip! I put an new oil filter on and oil pressure is fine now! You can bet I'll be replacing that spare parts factory filter with a NAPA one here REAL soon.

Thanks Bluechip!!!!

The 4 cyl Yangdong engine uses a 1516 NAPA oil filter and the 3195 fuel filter. You may have to thread the nipple that holds the filter to the housing out some to reach the dished top of the NAPA filter. the stock filter is domed upward. the nipple is long enough to reach.
