Hydrostatic t503 TYM ; forward and all other hydraulics working fine, but reverse has stopped. Recently had pump fixed because it was pumping engine oil into the hydralics. Changed all oil and filters, and has been working for 5 weeks fine until now.Any ideas ?

First thing I would check would be the linkage. Make sure the reverse mechanism moves the swash plate an equal distance compared to the forward mechanism.

Thanks mwayne, all the mechanical parts seem to work ok, and we tested the potentiometers on the pedals , and both working fine. Looks like it may be the control box closing the flow valve when it is not supposed too ? Reverse works every now and then , and just stops abruptly. Wondering if this is a problem with the TYM's out there ? new control box quote for $800 Aus. and still not sure if it is the real problem.

So your system works by solenoids actuating the hydrostatic unit? That's quite different from what I'm familiar with. Hopefully some hydrostatic experts will chime in with some ideas

The tractor worked perfectly for 3 hours yesterday after jiggling the wires on the computer, and then reverse and the PTO cut out. Jiggled the wires again and the PTO started working, but reverse proving more difficult. Might just be a bad connection !

Get some dielectric grease, remove connector from computer, blow it out with air and squeeze some dielectric into connector, smooth it out and install the connector.
Don’t add too much as it could get difficult to install. You want just enough to coat the pins.
Dust, moisture, corrosion affects the circuits. I’ve used this method for the past twenty years in the automotive field.

Thanx Dfixit1,
After talking to a TYM tech, it appears they had this problem once before with the reverse, and it ended up being the plug that goes into the reverse pedal.(it is a Toyota plug if anyone has the same problem)
Rather a faulty connection than an ECU or hydrostatic unit !.
Will try the grease - thanks again !

I suspect its the one you wiggled but try the one the tech told you at the pedal and if it continues dielectric the one you wiggled.
Let us know how it works out!
