When I curl and uncurl the backhoe bucket the top cylinder makes a noise similiar to an air leak or a hiss. Seems to work ok.
Any thoughts?
Dave

Extend the cylinder. Then take a straight edge and lay it on the shaft. It sounds like the shaft maybe bent slightly. If it is bent, the seal can make a strange sound as the shaft goes in and out. Given the sound, that is at least one thing that I would check.l

Has it always made the noise, or is it new? Does it do it consistently, intermittently? If you're sure that's where the sound is coming from, and not from the front panel connections, Jerry may have it right on, or if not bent rod, at least a leaky cylinder.
Make sure the connections in the front panel below the BH controls are all hooked up tightly and not leaking. I could easily believe the sound could come from there, but is bouncing back to you off the boom. Just a thought. John

Thanks for the replies. The noise seems to have gotten louder.
I only have 2 hours on the hoe and 11 on the tractor.
I will investigate and let you all know.
Thanks,Dave
