Need to fit a new seal kit to a leaking power steering ram on my MF 253. A bit confused by the directions from the factory manual that the nut should be locked onto the shaft by centre punching the thread (see illustration)as this would surely cause problems the next time it needs to be refitted.
Any suggestions on recommended process for locking a nut to a shaft, would locktite on its own be enough?
Thanks for any help and if anyone wants more pages from the manual happy to supply.

STEERING RAMS
Re-assembly
13. Reverse procedure 1 to 11 except:
a. Apply MF. Stud Lock (Loctite 270) to the thread on
the end of the piston rod.
b. Tighten the piston to the rod and use a centre
punch to strake the thread to prevent it unscrewing.
Dis-assembly
1. Remove the steering ram assembly, see operation
2. Place the steering ram in a vice.
3. Unscrew the end cap.
4. Withdraw piston assembly from the cylinder
5. Unscrew the piston from the rod.
6. Remove the sealing ring and '0' ring from the piston.
7. Remove the end housing from the rod.
8. Remove the pressure seal and '0' ring.
9. Remove the washer and dust seal.
10. Remove the end cap (3).
11. Remove the cylinder and sealing ring from the ram
tube.
Examination.
12. Clean and inspect all parts. Replace all seals.
Lubricate all parts with transmission oil.
