After nearly busting my wrinkly old butt a couple of times clambering around on painted surfaces that had morning dew on them, I did some non-skid painting on my 16' utility flatbed trailer. After using it I can highly recommend Valspar "Skid-Not" from Lowe's. I used the grey, not sure what other colors it comes in but if there's a white they will be able to mix any color you want. Don't have to add grit, it's already in there. Have them shake it up for you at the paint desk, and stir it occasionally while using. A gallon goes a long way, easy to apply with brush or roller, dries fast and hard to a 60-grit sandpaper finish. I coated the tops of the fenders & A-frame, all those "I might step here" surfaces, and the ramps. Great stuff, about $32 a gallon. Should be good for all kinds of machinery applications.
For smaller areas, or if you just prefer to use stick-on stuff, get "Black Magic" skateboard grip tape. Amazon ships it in a rolled-up package of three 9" x 33" sheets for $16. Great stuff, sticks and grips like the hounds of Hades. I put this stuff on my mower decks three years ago and it still looks brand new. You foot will NOT slip on this stuff, and it just laughs at my power washer's attempts to peel up the edges. I just hope I never want to take it off!
