After nearly busting my wrinkly old butt a couple of times clambering around on painted surfaces that had morning dew on them, I did some non-skid painting on my 16' utility flatbed trailer. After using it I can highly recommend Valspar "Skid-Not" from Lowe's. I used the grey, not sure what other colors it comes in but if there's a white they will be able to mix any color you want. Don't have to add grit, it's already in there. Have them shake it up for you at the paint desk, and stir it occasionally while using. A gallon goes a long way, easy to apply with brush or roller, dries fast and hard to a 60-grit sandpaper finish. I coated the tops of the fenders & A-frame, all those "I might step here" surfaces, and the ramps. Great stuff, about $32 a gallon. Should be good for all kinds of machinery applications.

For smaller areas, or if you just prefer to use stick-on stuff, get "Black Magic" skateboard grip tape. Amazon ships it in a rolled-up package of three 9" x 33" sheets for $16. Great stuff, sticks and grips like the hounds of Hades. I put this stuff on my mower decks three years ago and it still looks brand new. You foot will NOT slip on this stuff, and it just laughs at my power washer's attempts to peel up the edges. I just hope I never want to take it off!

I bet that paint would work good on my wooden loading ramps and they've needed paint for a long long time.

I don't know how it would work over wood, on everything I've done it's just been applied over previously painted steel. It sure has worked well on that, though. I mentioned it because it works well and it's widely available at Lowe's, and it's premixed and ready to use.

I know when i put epoxy garage floor paint on my finished lania, I had to add the friction modifier that epoxy seal made otherwise when it was wet it was as slick as glass. the epoxy seal friction modifier is nice.. it's not silica.. it's a plastic media.. thus stays suspended int he paint without settling out like heavier modifiers.

Hmmm... I need to re-seal/re-paint my garage floor. Never heard of "epoxy seal friction modifier" before!

Lowe's or Home Depot or Wally's?

Got a new Lowe's and Wally's about 25 miles from my house now - just opened this past Spring. Alaska - land of contrasts... ;)

i got the epoxy seal paint at lows.. and they sold the packets of the friction media. it's a tough paint. I put 2 coats down on my concrete, first one with no media init.. 2nd coat with media... stuff is tough. I have 3 dogs onthe bad borch.. their nails have yet to dig thru the paint. also the usualy places of weal liek the netry and exit and patch in between has yet to show wear in a couple years. ( maybe be 3ys? )

you have to pressure clean and then etch the concrete with an acid.. but it's not a bad job..
