Greeting Oficionados of All machines of Vintage,
My name is Wayne. I was raised on a farm in my youth (only 17 acres, a "hobby farm" I guess), but have been around a myriad of tractors all of my life. Primarily we were a "Green and Yellow" family foremost I suppose. John Deere "A"s, "G"s and the first real antique we had, an "Unstyled" 1935 "B" that had to be started by yanking twice on the flywheel... That tractor was amazing. I think the John Deere "G" was the "newest" tractor we ever owned... certainly nothing with lots of numbers in the name... There were plenty of other vintage makes and models ~ CC Case, Farmall F-20, and the odd Ford 9N. But green remained my favorite color.
Anyway, I am now a member of this forum after buying a new property this week which requires me to get a "tractor" of my own... This morning I bought a 25 year old John Deere "430" garden "tractor", but I think it is more "tractor" than "garden". I am going to LOVE this thing.
Part of my decision to buy this machine is based on some of the comments and great information I found thru a Google-Search, many results of that search being right on this site. So, it seems a no-brainer to join and maybe learn something while I relive the colors and memories of my youth, on ... oh, yeah... GREEN MACHINES.
I have far too many hobbies to justify, but we humans are complicated. Nothing in life is easy. I look forward to the knowledge and chuckles along the way that this site may bring.
Yours,
Wayne
