New Holland TC30
I will be taking delivery of my brand new New Holland TC30 tractor this week. I bought it with MFWD, FEL, HST and turf tires. I also bought a 60" Bush Hog mower and a Woods landscape rake.

So, anything I should know about this machine? Any "must haves" for it? Any info is appreciated!!

Thanks,
Kris

Hi Rat,
I have had my tc-30 since 04 with almost 300 hr on her now. All i can say is wow what a work horse for the size, i have a brush hog, back hoe, tiller , snowblower, wood spliter, middle buster and 5' snowblower(rear). A few things i did was get a cutting edge for the FEL, a block heater and have the rears loaded, My dealer did all for free to close the deal. Now the Downside, the lighting is very poor so i added 2 flood lights to the front and rear..seems i ended doing a lot more after dark than expected spliting wood brush hogging snow blowing. Only a few minor problems,,cant keep the keyswitch to stay put..always having to crank it back down and keep a eye on the cooler lines(espically the rubber connecting hose over the starter) mine popped last summer at a bad time. Other than that, other than my wife it is the best investment i have ever made for the money. Iam sure so many other tc-30 owners here would agree...Good luck and lets see some pics..

What's a middle buster? Do you make your own cutting edge, or do they sell them pre-made? What did you fill the tires with?

Glad to hear you like it. :)

Hi Rat.. Middle Buster = Potato plow or 1 bottom plow.. I use it to rip up virgin ground before I use the tiller. Bought it at TSC for like 100 bucks..Good Investment. Call your dealer about a Cutting edge for the loader. Not sure what make you have but it is either a Dealer or Aftermarket Item. My Rear tires are loaded with winshield washer fluid... Good Ballast for the fel..never came off the ground yet with a full bucket..a thought from a post you had from another thread about tires. Unless you are going to mow Golf Corses go with the R-4's (Indust tires). I have never ruined a lawn with them and if you have any mucky ground or want to drive through 6" of snow you will be glad you have them.. Good Luck PS.. Block Heater

Chris527's advice is good. Must have add ons in my opinion are a steering wheel spinner, toothbar for the FEL, loaded rear tires, and slimed (flat preventer) front tires.

Chris527 is also correct about the key switch -- seems everyone has trouble with that on a TC30.

My list of must haves for mc TC-30 would be

1) Rear Remote / Hydraulic Top Link

2) My bucket, and a toothbar for it. I would also get a pair of hooks attached to the bucket for chains to attach to. NOT for Pulling, but to easily chain large items to the bucket for moving things. Since the TC-30 doesnt have quick attach forks.

3) Lights, yes indeed. In the winter, daylight is short and I often need the extra time with lights to wrap things up. Whether it's just cleaning the tractor up, putting things away, or just to keep on working. Also find a really good set of rear mount floods are useful for when working on other things late at night the tractor is a portable go anywhere floodlight system.

4) 4WD.......

5) Optional Operator. A good cheap 8 dollar an hour operator is useful. For those very hot dry summers. Makes sipping tea in the shade much easier as they create the dust clouds that turn me from beat red with dabs of white from sun cream, to dusty tan. (SERIOUSLY though, that does raise the point, during dry hot summer months, good wrap around glasses and some type of dust mask. My place become a dust bowl quickly).

6) Extra disiel and let it abound. I hate being in a project and not having a fuel can to resupply.

7) Tractor Stuff, but not really on the tractor : Set of Chains, I love a floor mallet with my tractor (on side is metal other side is rubber, great for stuborn pins and implements etc.).

8) Drawbar thing a ma-jig - (It's a half figure eight looking thing that pins to the draw bar, really usefull to hook chains to, What is this thing called?).

Well that is all that comes to mind for me. Have fun, enjoy, play safe. Wear your seatbelt!!!
