Hiya,

I'm an absolute noobie when it comes to hydralics so I'm going to put it to the guru's here to guide me.

I just picked up a Speeco 3pt splitter, (TSC sent me a 15% off coupon so I bit) I have a Deere 2520 with a power beyond kit installed.

The manual says to use an existing scv port pair and plumb the line from them to the splitters valve then tie the tractors control lever so it sends flow to the splitter valve. According to the manual the splitter has an open center valve,

My question is: if this is the case, could I plumb it to the power beyond and not deal with the mid scv ports and tying the loader control off?

Thanks in advance,

Tom

Most people would plug into the rear remotes and tie the lever open. What is the routing for the hyd flow? It normally goes to the FEL first, and then out the PB port to the rear remotes and and then to the 3pt.

You could maybe get a detent kit for the remote valve instead of tieing it open.

Tom999,

Hi Neighbor......

Is there a hose direct from PB (on FEL Valve) going to SCV......how about putting a set of Quick Connects inline here allowing you to plumb into the Splitter valve.....kinds like the by-pass hose for my Backhoe attachment on my Kubota.......

(Time to go walk my pooches over your side of the town line.....)

Hiya,

OK, I'm confused. I thought the purpose of a power beyond was to have a "tap" into the full flow and pressure of the hyd system as all the fluid moves through before it goes to (or from) the attachments? (Not the power steering side of course, just the attachment side)

I also thought the term "open center valve" indicated a valve allowed uninturupted flow through it when the actuation lever was in the at rest or "center" position? (Not operating the attachment) Then when the control lever is moved to actuate the implement the flow is diverted to the pressure side of the cylinder and the vent side returns the fluid to the return or "out" port.

Am I wrong on these two points?

Tom

Sorry for being a PITA but I read here someplace that if you hook stuff up incorrectly it will "deadhead" and that is so bad it must be avoided at all cost.

You are right in your thinking. Is there another question. PB is used to provide fluid flow to valves downstream. Just about all cyl fluid should go to tank via the return port.

Tom, IMO, easiest thing to do is plumb a set of outlets at the rear of your tractor as you would do for that backhoe you are going to buy anyway ;);). Then you'd just plug the splitter into the outlets and not worry about bungee cording a valve open to run the splitter.

I put a Speeco splitter on my JD4720 and hooked up to the PB ports. I would guess your PB is similar where you have a male QD on a short hose that goes back up to the female QD. Plug the input of the splitter to the output of the PB and the return from the splitter to male hose of the PB. If you use the Back Hoe return port it will cut out your 3-point lift. If your smaller JD 2520 power beyond (PB) is different this may not work the same. The QD's on my PB are 1/2 inch and the BH return port QD is 3/8inch so pretty easy to keep straight.

I know the others are trying to help...But I know the JD hydraulic setups a little better than them;)

Since you already have the PB loop, then that is where you want to plumb the splitter to. These lives have the full flow from the pump through them whenever your tractor is running. Just get the two QD's that mat up to the ones already installed and you will be good-to-go:thumbsup:
