IF your gloves get wet and you are wet with sweat and touch the electrode (wire while energized) it could shock you but with a MIG that is pretty much physically impossible unless you shoot the wire into yourself some how.

Even if you get shocked, it is more of a startle event that an injury. It is much less than touching an electric fence while barefoot.

Unhook the battery and be done with any worry... even if it be small. Best thing is you disassemble and clean your terminal and clamp that you otherwise would have ignored.
